Opening Reception | Sik.Star | Friday, Dec 14 (6 - 8 PM)

Sik.Star's "Trip-a-Tourium"

TRIP-A-TOURIUM

The thought-provoking work of Sik.Star will be featured in CMCM's Georgia Annwell Gallery Space from December 14 to February 16.

Exhibit Reception: Friday, December 14 (6 - 8 PM)
Featuring paintings and mixed media artworks, Trip-a-Tourium is an all blacklight exhibition. Come dressed to glow!

-----------------------------------------------------

About the Artist:

Sik.Star pulls from humor, conspiracies, pop culture, spirituality, and life experiences to create psychedelic pieces that challenge the viewer's perception and invites them to form their own opinions. She is a proponent of using recycled resources to utilize items we take for granted such as up-cycled spray cans, lamps, mannequins, and other oddities.

Born in the heart of Greenwich Village, NYC, a deep love for art was forever entangled in her being. She was raised in an inherently creative household where art was an everyday part of life. This hobby evolved into a Sik.Star's ultimate life goal to be a "creator" and to constantly share her work with the world.

Set Your Hard Drive Free

To make room for new equipment, CMCM will liberate all member-assigned hard drives this summer.

Purchase your hard drive for only $50 by the end of August and get a free Marin TV T-shirt to keep you cool all summer long. Just bring cash, check, or a credit card to the Front Desk and set your hard drive on the road to freedom.

All hard drives not claimed by August 31 will be reformatted for staff use.

Heads up!

CMCM will be closed for "Maintenance Week" Friday, December 23 thru Monday, January 2. Equipment cannot be checked out or in during this time period, so plan your reservations before or after this holiday period.

CMCM Highlights of 2014 & Plans for 2015

CMCM is pleased to share some highlights of our activities over the past year -- and plans for the New Year:

We installed production equipment in San Anselmo and Larkspur and will start 2015 with ten different county and city governments and agencies cablecasting their meetings on the Government Channel - many live!

With so much government content, we are requesting a second government channel from our cable providers.

We continued our Summer Sports Broadcast Camp and had a great group of youth produce ten live cablecasts of San Rafael Pacifics Baseball Games.

We are launching the Marin Media Corp to train youth and engage them in community productions.

We'll begin to upgrade our aging field equipment and bring the studio up to full HD production capability so our community productions will look even better this time next year!

Most significantly, we were successful in securing temporary bridge support funding from the MTA which ensures for the first time that CMCM has a firm foundation upon which to build.

Your support is essential to our work and helps us expand our efforts into the communities of Marin. All donations are tax deducible.

Red Flag Warning in Effect | June 22 - June 24 |

Red Flag Warning

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Mt. Tam Watershed. A Red Flag Warning means warm temperatures, very low humidity, and strong winds are expected to combine to produce an increased risk of fire danger.

As a result of the Red Flag Warning, all watershed land use permits have been suspended. No fires or BBQs will be permitted. MMWD's Mt. Tamalpais watershed lands are closed to public motor vehicle traffic both Saturday 6/23 and Sunday 6/24 at the following sites:
• Sky Oaks Road beyond the Sky Oaks Ranger Station
• Natalie Coffin Greene Park
• Leo Cronin parking lot gate

For additional information and updates, call MMWD's fire and road closure message line at 415-945-1195.

June 22nd and 23rd are also Spare the Air Days. Bay Area Residents are urged to cut back on any activities that cause pollution - such as driving, using oil-based paints, gasoline-powered lawn mowers, or household aerosol products like hair sprays. People who are sensitive to unhealthy air are advised to limit their time outdoors, particularly in the afternoon hours.
