Stop the FCC from Defunding PEG Channels & Community Media Centers like Marin TV

UPDATE August 2019
The FCC voted 3-2 (R-D) to approve the draft order 621 today. That was no surprise. The final order will be released in about a week - we'll know more then. Some interpretation of the order as it now stands:

1) FCC commissioner O’reilly pushed hard for PEG transport fees (use of fiber line between PEG and Cable operator) to be deducted from Franchise Fees (FF) - this may included in the final order. If so - CMCM could be charged for our connection to Comcast used to deliver the channels.

2) Values determined by cable companies for iNets and free cable drops will now be deducted from FF. This has no impact on CMCM since AT&T eliminated those public benefits 10 years ago when they passed the CA State Video Franchise (DIVCA). Note: Having decimated PEG in 21 states, AT&T has since ceased their rollout of U-Verse and now sells satellite TV service.

CMCM CLOSED through May 31

The Bay Area-wide “Shelter in Place” order has been extended through May 31. In accordance with that mandate, CMCM will continue to be closed to members and the general public until at least that date.

CMCM studio reservations, equipment checkouts, workshops, and events are suspended until further notice. But since a large part of the work CMCM performs is Government services -- covering local meetings and operating the related government channels -- this work will continue since it is an essential part of public health and emergency communications between local governments and their constituents.

Programming will continue to be scheduled across all three channels, and you can submit programs to air on Marin TV electronically -- without having to leave home -- then tune into Channel 26 to see the results.

If you post your videos to YouTube, Vimeo or DropBox - just send the link. If you want to upload files to our dropbox, just ask.

To submit programs, please fill out the form found at this URL: https://cmcm.tv/online

To contact staff, please use email only. Thank you!

Jimmy Carter's Birthday Celebration Live Event - Saturday, October 1st!

It's the Annual Jimmy Carter Jamboree celebration to honor and recognize our 39th President and his work at The Carter Center.

The event will hosted by CMCM member/producer Barbara McVeigh, live at the Community Media Center of Marin on Saturday, October 1st from 1:00 - 4:00 PM, joined by ABC Host Spencer Christian!

The event will include screenings of the great "Crisis of Confidence Speech", forums from The Carter Center, footage of the last six years of musicians and other community leaders of Marin and beyond coming together to celebrate a president who has stood by principles of peace, human rights, health, mental health, housing, respect and so many other values that we value.

We have Carter bumper stickers and flower seeds from Rosalynn Carter to help usher in the butterfly trail of hope across the country!

To date, we have hosted film screenings, earned two city proclamations, one county proclamation and a California State resolution in honor of Carter. Musicians, businesses and teachers have contributed to the efforts to honor this president whose spirit could "Jimmy" us into one of peace and joy! Let it rip! We believe the best is yet to come!
