Marin Media Corps
Produce Television, Get Benefits
The Marin Media Corps is a program designed to provide professional media production training to students enrolled in Marin High Schools. Students will then gain immediate experience through production courses and video coverage of local events throughout Marin County that will air on the Marin TV channels. The Media Corps is modeled on our successful Summer Broadcast Camp but provides a year-round opportunity for youth to engage with more aspects of Marin's cultural and social activities.
How it works
As members of the corps, all production training fees for foundation courses at the Community Media Center of Marin are waived as long as each student works on at least 3 local events or projects per trimester (Spring, Summer, Fall). Events include film festival screenings, conferences, concerts, sporting events, lectures, or their own projects.
In addition to free training at CMCM, students in the Marin Media Corps can elect to receive benefits in the form of high school credit and business discounts. By taking their production skills back to their home school and helping develop their media programs, students may also qualify for academic scholarships.
Middle school and high school students in Marin County who have a membership with CMCM are eligible.
1. Sign up for a Student MMC Membership.
2. Create a website account with CMCM.
3. Send a letter of introduction to firstname.lastname@example.org describing your interests in media or video production. A follow-up interview will then be scheduled.
