International Forgiveness Day

Don't miss the 16th International Forgiveness Day celebration. Those that are awarded as champions or heroes of forgiveness are people who have courageously and dramatically stepped forward to demonstrate and exemplify the concepts of forgiveness, reconciliation and peace.

Speakers include: Matthew Fox, a former Catholic priest and internationally known teacher and Sarah Lahey who, after surviving parental abuse as a child, founded "Hunting for Happiness", a non-profit committed to teaching forgiveness.

IJ Forums: The future of cattle ranching in Point Reyes National Seashore

Cattle ranching and dairy farms have been part of West Marin’s culture and economy for generations, but how much longer will that continue in the Point Reyes National Seashore?

The question takes center stage in the newest session of IJ Forums, which puts the spotlight on a lawsuit filed against the National Park Service by three environmental groups. They contend cattle are causing erosion, polluting waterways, producing greenhouse gases, harming endangered species and blocking public access.

Eye of the Storm

Congratulations to local filmmaker Kramer Herzog for winning the CreaTiVe Excellence Award for Eye of the Storm.

On the night of December 13, 2005, San Quentin Village was hit by a media storm generated by the coming execution of Crips co-founder Tookie Williams. The film's director, Kramer Herzog, is a resident of the village, and in return for the use of his property, the FOX National News crew granted Herzog permission to film and interact with them over the course of the 24 hours leading up to the midnight execution.

MarINSANITY Comedy Programs

Thanks to the success of the MarINSANITY pilot, which was shot and aired at the end of October, two new shows were produced by CMCM staff in early December.

Griffin Daley and Bob Lieberman, who generated lots of laughs in the series debut, each headlined one of the new episodes.

Stand-up comedians appearing with Daley are Danny Dechi and Bridget Schwartz. Lieberman was joined by Priya Prasad and Nicole Calasich.

Catch some laughs by watching these programs this Friday, December 18th on the Community Channel 26 at 11PM and 11:30PM!

As part of the Hooked on Marin Speaker Series, rock historian and College of Marin Instructor, Richie Unterberger, gave a presentation on "Marin County Rock 'n' Roll Music History." The audience was also treated to a talk by Rock Journalist Ben Fong-Torres.

The Hooked on Marin speaker series is a community-based partnership comprised of Marin county public service agencies and educational districts collaborating to foster social, educational, and cultural enrichment opportunities in Marin. Video coverage is provided by the Drake High School Communications Academy in a partnership between CMCM and the Intel Computer Clubhouse. CMCM trained four separate multi-camera production teams to cover each of the talks.
