Eye of the Storm

Eye of the Storm relives the night of the controversial execution of Stanley "Tookie" Williams.

On the night of December 13, 2005, San Quentin Village was hit by a media storm generated by the coming execution of Crips co-founder Tookie Williams. The film's director, Kramer Herzog, is a resident of the village, and in return for the use of his property, the FOX National News crew granted Herzog permission to film and interact with them over the course of the 24 hours leading up to the midnight execution.

The Assembly Candidate Debate

On Saturday, September 8th, the League of Women Voters of Marin County presented a debate with the two candidates for State Assembly - incumbent Michael Allen, and San Rafael Councilman Marc Levine. Allen and Levine responded to a wide range of topics from state government legislative reform, to if elected, how they would appeal to non-democratic constituents.

The debate was directed/produced by Veda Florez and moderated by League President, Margy Eller. Anne Layzer and Kelly O'Mara posed questions submitted by nearly one hundred Marin County residents.

Portraits from the Occupation

Occupy Wall Street celebrates it's first year on September 17th and Marin TV marks the occasion with an insightful series on Occupy Oakland.

Portraits from the Occupation is an artist project by Alex Abramovich and Lucy Raven. The project comprises a series of video interviews with sixteen individuals involved with or impacted by Occupy Oakland. The interviews were recorded in March and April 2012 and include a diversity of community voices - from organizers to the mayor. Originally featured at the Oakland Museum and presented on television for the first time by Marin TV.

Label GMO Symposium

Held at the Community Center in San Rafael July 25th, experts speak about the benefits of GMO Labeling, and the upcoming initiative - Proposition 37 "Our Right to Know - Label GMO's" on the 2012 ballot. Find out the effects of Genetically Modified Organisms and why we should all be more concerned about the food we eat.

Robin Carpenter, KWMR Radio talk-show host, is the moderator for two panel experts: Jeffrey Smith, author of "Seeds of Deception" & "Genetic Roulette", and Pamm Larry, leader of the California GMO Labeling Initiative.

International Forgiveness Day

Don't miss the 16th International Forgiveness Day celebration. Those that are awarded as champions or heroes of forgiveness are people who have courageously and dramatically stepped forward to demonstrate and exemplify the concepts of forgiveness, reconciliation and peace.

Speakers include: Matthew Fox, a former Catholic priest and internationally known teacher and Sarah Lahey who, after surviving parental abuse as a child, founded "Hunting for Happiness", a non-profit committed to teaching forgiveness.

Democracy Now!

Democracy Now! will expand to a daily two-hour broadcast during the 2012 Republican and Democratic National Conventions. Amy Goodman and the Democracy Now! crew will travel to Tampa Bay and Charlotte to report from the streets, to the suites, to the convention floor.

On the opening day of the 2008 Republican Convention, Goodman and two producers were unlawfully arrested and subjected to excessive force while reporting on a public protest surrounding the convention.
