Agnès Varda in California

The Rafael proudly presents two of iconic filmmaker Agnés Varda's short films about life in California during the 1960s. The first film, Black Panthers, serves as a blueprint for resistance from the forebears of the fight that continues today. The second film, Uncle Yanco, delves into her own family history.

One Sings, The Other Doesn’t

Agnès Varda’s enchanting ode to female friendship and liberation is part blissed-out bohemian musical, part revolutionary cri de coeur. Set against France’s pro-choice struggle (of which Varda herself was on the frontlines) this tender and intimate epic celebrates the power of women to lift one another up.
