Nini Lion - Figures and Portraits

Nini Lion, an award winning Mill Valley artist, has been active in the Marin artsí community since 1989. Nini has served as a board member of the Marin Arts Council (MAC), as a Mill Valley Art Commissioner, and as a board member of Artisans Art Gallery. She is a member of Artisans, Marin Society of Artists, the Marin Arts Council, and Friends of Wellesley Art.

Whether pastels, drawings, ceramic sculpture, or artists' books, all are figurative. Nini has an intense concern for detail and a passion for the underlying line, mirroring the emotions and attitudes of her subjects, going beyond the surface to express intimate feelings and states of mind.

Nini has a B.A. in English Literature from Wellesley College and a Masters in Library and Information Science from U.C.Berkeley. Her works are in collections in California, New York, Texas, London and St. Croix. Her work has been published in American Art Collector: Juried Competition of New Work, 2005-9. Her studio is at Art Works Downtown in San Rafael. She has been represented by the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery in Chelsea, New York City.
