Carol Smith Myer - Paintings
Luminous Oil Colors
Marin county native, UC Davis graduate.
I have traveled extensively to study with Master painters for the last 18 years. The Henry Hensche Colorist School and Camille Przewodek have most deeply influenced my understanding of light and color. Study with Jove Wang, Milt Kobayashi, Carolyn Anderson and Dan McCaw have provided guidance in the search for my "True North". I live with my husband, Jan, in the Novato home where we raised our two lovely daughters.
I use luscious oil paints, with deep, saturated color to interpret on canvas the nuances of color and light that I have trained my eye to 'see' in the World around me. Color changes according to the source of light, the surfaces and surroundings that reflect it, the atmosphere, the time of day and the season. I find it challenging, fascinating and rewarding to engage this study every day, and I will never tire of it. In fact, even when not painting, I see colors blossom all around me with exaggerated hues. I can't wait to take my brush and/or palette knife and watch the painting as it comes to life. I enjoy teaching this impressionist way of seeing and conveying light with color, to new and experienced artists.
