DSLR: Basic Workflow

Discover the what, why, and how of DSLR cameras.


Get enlightened about what a DSLR camera can do in this two-session workshop.  First you'll explore manual and autos settings, focus, exposure, white balance, and general photography as it applies to aperture, shutter speed, ISO, flash use, framing and composition. Then you'll learn how to properly handle different types of photo formats (CR2 vs. JPG) and how to capture, log, and protect your media.

Jeremy Snowden is a freelance videographer, actor and student. He has been making short films ever since high school and creates promotional videos for restaurants, musicians, and athletes. He has photographed for the California Film Institute, and directed several short films, including Placebo, a short film about a therapist and his toxic relationship with his patient. He plans on transferring to UCLA in the fall to major in Film Production and minor in Art History. In his spare time he runs the Film Club at College of Marin, and works with the Metro Center Foundation restoring and archiving films.
