Mill Valley First Friday: Miss Representation

Debuting in January 2011 in celebration of the Library's centennial year, the ongoing "First Fridays" series presents different narratives, ideas and presentations that an audience might otherwise not consider or experience.

For November the Mill Valley Public Library presents insight into Miss Representation, an award-winning documentary directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom. The film explores the media's various misrepresentations of women in positions of power and influence in America. Imran Siddiquee, social media director of the social action campaign of the documentary film -- will show a Miss Representation trailer and share clips and strategies behind the campaigns sparked by the film. He'll also talk about using social media to engage consumers to act against offensive media.
